So after I almost relapsed into my fever AGAIN last night, I came to a startling realization. This was the first time since I've arrived in College that I've actually been working hard. The revelation was stunning. I then proceeded to have a dialogue with my inner child I have always promised to feed and spoil. It went something like this:

Me: Hey sorry about all this. I know we haven't had time to go out anywhere or do anything fun this quarter yet but--

Him: Sorry!? You're sorry!? You make us wake up EVERY morning at 8am to go to class! You get us a cold for an entire week and not rest it because of said classes! You get us a fever almost TWICE because you're working so freaking hard! What the hell!? Do you know who I am? Do you fucking know who I am!? Huh!? I'm Kaiji FUCKIN' Tang!!!

Me: ...

Needless to say, I've dropped my MWF class. ^-^
I now have classes twice on Tuesdays and Thursdays and once on Wednesday.
I have no classes on Monday and Friday.

Moral of the story?

I'm Kaiji Fuckin' Tang.
This is my Senior college year.
I'll work as hard as *I* see fit.

Booya.

My glorious return to Livejournal...ish.

Ok so I'm sick. I just finished a rushed 3 week rehearsal to put together "The Shape of Things." The play itself turned out rather nicely, but with the rushed rehearsal schedule plus classes I've been missing out on a lot of sleep. And of course what started out as a cold rose into a full pitched fever the morning after strike. >.< What's worse, I had to start rehearsals for the next play I'm in, "The Love of the Nightingale", that very night. Oh it was hilarious. There I was all discombobulated; medicated to heck while my director tried to get me to get the blocking down for the first few scenes I was in. He's understanding though...and funny enough, a germophobe.

After I finally got back to my apartment I wind up dying for about an hour on my bed before I could summon the strength to crawl into the shower...and die there for another hour. ^^
We won't even speak of the weird fever-induced dreams I had last night.

Fortunately, who else but my mom came to my rescue this morning bringing wicked Chinese medicine that nukes all forms of illness. She spoils me sometimes.

I'd write more but...well...still recovering from evil fever of death. Of death. ::Sage nod::

Making up for mandatory online quizes... [10 May 2005|01:00am]
[ mood | awake ]

The Keys to Your Heart

You are attracted to those who are unbridled, untrammeled, and free.

In love, you feel the most alive when everything is uncertain, one moment heaven... the next moment hell.

You'd like to your lover to think you are stylish and alluring.

You would be forced to break up with someone who was insecure and in constant need of reassurance.

Your ideal relationship is lasting. You want a relationship that looks to the future... one you can grow with.

Your risk of cheating is zero. You care about society and morality. You would never break a commitment.

You think of marriage as something precious. You'll treasure marriage and treat it as sacred.

In this moment, you think of love as something you thirst for. You'll do anything for love, but you won't fall for it easily.

Arrg. It's been a long time since I've have the chance to update. It seems like most entries I make now start with, "It's been a long time since I've updated." Heh. Oh well...busy me. Let's recap my quarter thus far!

As you've read, I broke my hand way in the beginning of the quarter and I just recently got to take the darn cast off. Actually more like I got tired of it, needed my hand for tech rehearsals so I hacked it off with my knife. ^_^ It was one of those manly moments where I lost my sanity and devolved into a hooting primate...but I did get it off! Hurrah for me! My wrist felt all weird afterwards because I wasn't able to bend it for about five-six weeks. My pinky still can't bend all the way down but they tell me that will get better with time. However my pinky now does permanently bend inward towards my palm whenever I make a fist...it doesn't hamper the use of my hand or anything, but it just looks freaky. Muaha.

Besides my injury, the main devotion in my life is currently Cabaret. We open tonight! My character is an esemble member ( Since I can't sing and I should count my lucky stars they decided to cast me anyway ) and looks quite like a James Bond villain. I'm all dressed up in a 1930's suite and I'm CONSTANTLY smoking. Not real smoking. Stage smoking. Smoking is bad, kids. ::Insert educational music:: I've also learned how to put on a wicked looking wax scar on the right side of my face. So! I've determined that my character went mad from getting a deep papercut at an early age, decided to call himself Slice-Cheek, and is now planning to take over the world. Only James Bond can stop him...but that's another story.

And now for some nerd-speech:

Star Wars Episode 3 opens on the 19th! I've got my midnight tickets...do you?

World of Warcraft needs an expansion because it's way too barren once you reach the level cap.

Guild Wars = Diablo 2 on crack.

Everquest 2 just isn't the same as the first game. It's prettier...but it feels more sluggish.

I bought a Moogle-plush toy. It's magical.

I've started reading the "Death Note" manga. Interesting stuff!

You scored as agnosticism. You are an agnostic. Though it is generally taken that agnostics neither believe nor disbelieve in God, it is possible to be a theist or atheist in addition to an agnostic. Agnostics don't believe it is possible to prove the existence of God (nor lack thereof).

Agnosticism is a philosophy that God's existence cannot be proven. Some say it is possible to be agnostic and follow a religion; however, one cannot be a devout believer if he or she does not truly believe.

HI!!!!

Yes I'm alive in the Live Journal community once again. It's been months and months since I've updated last; let me tell you I've been busy as Vishnu pushing buttons at the center of the earth. At any rate, let me give you the recap on what's been going on in Kaiji's life for the past X amount of months.

Firstly, I was involved in the world premiere of Orange Grove as Larry Stayner. What an experience that was. We sold out every single night we played.

Also I was cast in Midsummer Night's Dream as Snug the Joiner. The show ran beautifully and now we're set to tour for $1000 bucks each! Mmm...money. At the Midsummer's cast party I drank a wee bit more than I should have and I don't remember 100% of what happened that evening...mostly Jess going "Just take one more shot with me!" ...So as you might have guessed, the rest of the night was pretty much a blur.

I'm just starting to realize how much of a drain on my person doing show after show is. Orange Grove wasn't that bad, but I had no pause inbetween that and Midsummer's. I went from one show right to another. A lot of sleep time was lost and now I've developed my insomnia back. I should take it easy on the shows, but you know what? I love acting. I love being on stage. I would gladly trade away time and sleep for an opportunity to do them both everytime. I may complain a lot while in the process but it's always with the love of the show on my mind.

Enough of the mushy stuff. Guess what I've done right after Midsummer's was over? Sleep? Rest? Vacation?

No.

I auditioned for and am now cast in a production of Cabaret as one of the Nazis! So! This makes three shows in a row where I've not stopped and taken a break. You know what though? It comes with a natural high that keeps me going. I thank my lucky stars for that. Everyone reading this: Come see our show! It'll be scandelous and sexy. Muaha.

Now...to catch what sleep I can. I have to get a money order in the morning for the music books we'll need.

P.S: My apologies to my darling Jesse for being completely absent. ^-^ But now at least you know why.

I'm back at Riverside...finally. ( My apologies to Wayne for that whole key fiasco. I freaked out for no reason. )

Tommorow I'll be on campus from 12:00pm to I think like...11:00pm. Eleven hours of theatre fun!!...ish.

Anyway.

Tommorow night is the first night of rehearsals for Orange Grove, and I'm finding myself full of ideas for my character. Basically it comes down to the fact that I think I've been playing him the wrong way. My first thought was that this guy was another red neck role I could easily play, but Larry seems to be a bit smarter than your average farmer...seeing how he's not TECHNICALLY a farmer. Since I'll be playing the part, he's now written as a man of Chinese anscestory, but he has a very American sounding name ( Larry Stayner ) which probably means he's been there awhile. That opens up a lot of fun choices. ^-^

So I'm working again...which in Theatre means I'm finally doing more shows. ^-^

I auditioned for both Orange Grove and Midsummer Night's Dream and managed to win a role in each one; Larry in Orange Grove and Snug in Midsummer. Larry is the gruff farmer next door while Snug is one of the loveable mechanicals...the joiner I believe (Someone please remind me what a joiner is again...?). Also I think Snub has Turrets Syndrome ^-^...at least that's my opinion. We'll see what the director thinks. Also I'll be the first actor to play Larry ever, since it is a world premier of the play. That's exciting. Much fun for the resume. This also means I'll be rather busy over the next quarter. Oh well. There goes the easy life...muahaha...but I can't complain about 8 units. Well I can but I wouldn't really mean it.

Ack, look at the time. I should get ready to go to the first read throughs with the cast(s). They're both at the same time and right next to each other room wise...so I have no idea how I'm going to make that work since I have to read for both at the same time. Ah well.

So I didn't get a part in Our Town. It's fine, really, since I got to spend the better part of the evening with a lovely young woman. ^-^

Basically what happened was this:
I was called back to do another read for the director. However in my frenzy I had forgotten that call backs were always the day after the auditions...the same night I had planned with the girl. So in my panic, I asked if I could be seen earlier than scheduled during call backs so I could make the curtain of the play that night. I believe my second audition suffered because of my haste and worry.

Like I said though, I did get to spend the night with her. We saw "The Little Prince" together ( It was wonderful ) and I took her to CoCos for dinner. We got Cherry Pie. In my mind it was worth it.

Also it's nice to get this sort of thing out of my system before Midsummer Night's Dream because it will NOT happen when that play comes around. I'll get into it if it kills me. >D

I'll be heading back to Riverside later today so much happiness about that. It sounds weird but I've actually been missing school...well not so much school exactly, just the people I know in Riverside. Being back home is great and all but the only people I know here have been here since they left high school. It's like I always say: Once you graduate from Palm Desert High School you need to LEAVE Palm Desert. Otherwise you'll be here forever. The only reason I come back any more is for the free food and the parents. That and my nice television is here. ^-^

Looking forward to seeing the roommates and also looking forward to my evil princess of death kitty.

Also I bring presents for everyone. ._.

I haven't done a real update in a long time. Apparently the allure of cheap quizes and such had done me in for awhile. So!

It's been about a week since I got back from China. We spent the first few days in my beloved city of Shanghai. Being in that city always brings back great memories from when I was a little kid. The great thing about Shanghai is that the new buildings aren't ever built over the old. Past and present stand side by side. That way I have the chance of walking down the street and going, "Oh! There's the ice cream shop I used to go to as a kid!" and then immediately after that, "Oh! A six-story mall!"

After that we went to a few more rural provinces just as a sight seeing bonus. We went to a place where if a girl splashes water on you, and you splash her back, you must marry her. Good stuff. Also a place where women wear pointed hats and if you push the points down...you marry them. And people ask why there are so many people in China.

Guang Zhou was great as always; they have some of the best black market sales for almost anything you could possibly want. Including little kids.

Then we went to Beijing where I spent some time with my cousin who grandly introduced me to a place where I could buy PS2 games for about an American dollar.

While in Beijing I had to go and visit my Auntie and my grandparents where they were buried. The place was really beautiful and I think my Auntie would have really liked it. Everything was green and peaceful. They had their own stone slabs and small jade dragons that stood watch. Over each of their graves a pine tree was planted. The graves overlooked a green valley where trees that bloomed blue flowers grew. I'm told those were my late grandparent's favorite trees. It was a pretty powerful experience. I got to put flowers by my Auntie's grave.

After a couple of days there we went back to Shanghai for the rest of the vacation before coming back.

...Now I'm trying to rid myself of the last remaining shreds of the evil time lag of death. I've started waking up at 5am instead of 3am...that's an improvement right?
